PLATFORM FOR ACCESS TO PUBLIC DOCUMENTS

The Law on Access to Public Documents guarantees the right of every person, without discrimination on any grounds, to access public documents, produced, received, maintained or controlled by public institutions.

Request access to public documents

Request from any public institution any public document that is of interest to you and that the relevant institution possesses.

The public institution is obliged within the period of 7 days, or 15 days if it announces that it needs additional time, to issue a decision to allow access to the requested document, or to justify the complete or partial refusal. If information is requested that is important for the protection of a person’s life or freedom/liberty, or for the health of the population and the protection of the environment, the response must be provided within 48 hours.
If the requested document in not in their possession, institution must direct applicant where to go, or if it is rejected, must be Instruction about the means of appeal.

Complain

Complain in case of silence or non-response of the public institution within the deadline set by Law.

The complaint can be filed within 15 days from the day when the public institution rejected complete or partial request, or even when it remained silent and did not provide any response.
